May 16-17th West Michigan Auto Auction Autocross #1 - West Michigan Auto Auction
Modified By finky on 4/10/2009 2:44:48 PM)

Now that the resource is here I just wanted to start a thread for the first autocross of the year.

Registration on Myautoevents.com  (site would not let me cut and paste direct link)

I registered in my wife's van in HS (had to trade in the '01 Subaru Outback I had out last year at ABC) but may bring the '93 FD RX-7 out of storage to play with.

Hopefully having a forum we can get some dicussions going and get set up/registration/sign in streamlined and maybe get the event started sooner.

I just noticed setup is Friday night (fail for me... maybe I can get a sub for my 7:20pm soccer game).

Hope to get all of the regulars and newbies into a good discussion so speak up.

sidenote if Curt R is on here... did my email to you get through?

I was just hoping we could get some people chatting up the event to get excited for it.  If you look over on the Detroit Region forum they already have 3 pages of banter going on about their opener.

Be it grudge matches in classes, what designs in the course people would people enjoy to see, how we can fix issues from last year, new Fastrack rule changes to discussion on SCCAforums.com.  I would like to get discussions about driving techniques, how to make everyone better drivers, and car setup going.

Ideally, I would like to see Furrin Group autocrosses churn out (and retain) great drivers that could go to any SCCA region and be at the top of the PAX list.  Competition and reflection/discussions of the events will improve the breed for the whole West Michigan Autocross scene in my mind.  When a top 25 (not even just top 5) driver in PAX from Detroit region comes to a Furrin event they win PAX handily... I feel that should spur us all on to prep our cars/ improve our driving by going to Evolution autocross type schools( http://www.evoschool.com/  ) and volunteering our time at events to make them the best we can (wow, now I feel like waving the flag and chanting USA USA USA).

Great idea's. Can we start with what you drive, and what you have done to make it more autocross ready? Also Furrin Group is planning on july weekend at Grand Valley having an autocross driving school possibly, but will be for members only. I currently drive my 03 WRX wagon and have improved it for autocross with the basics. a little negative chamber, and stiffer swaybars. I still need to make some improvements and learn more about when and where to turn as well as when and where to brake. (Love the link)

Finky,  I did get your email.   It's great that you have such a passion to make our little club stand out.   We hope to have an excellent season!   Here is the myautoevents link to the WMAA event.   Please preregister!
